"Paperless" job tickets provide logistics and economical efficiencies but requires use of different tools at the warehouse and field operations. Traditional "training mode" applications do not capture the day to day experience required of end users to continue to provide effective support to field groups.

Approach

Capture real-time sessions with screen captures and recreate user experiences in "safe" mode to insure that the correct process sequence and problem solving approaches are utilized when working "live" with the requisition system.

Design the navigation so that information not relevant to discrete segments of the company are not present in the training protocols. In addition, keep the design specifications in synch with the emerging "intranet" initiatives being developed elsewhere in the company.

Lessons Learned

Target playback platform specifications must be understood and agreed upon prior to program initiation. Browser version standards is also helpful for a successful global deployment.

Shockwave technology offered an efficient transition from network deployment (across 16 servers) to intranet presentation (1 server). MIME types configuration and browser assumptions must be established by other groups within the organization.
